On the production side, early estimates have put the crop between 58 million and as high as 63 million tons. Conab's estimate is for a 59.4 million ton 2007-08 crop, but major soy traders like Louis Dreyfus Commodities have forecast final output as low as 58 million tons. The company's oilseeds manager, Andre Roth, said last week that the long term weather outlook points to dry weather this summer. The summer season starts Dec. 21 and ends March 21.
